CollegeBound results

CollegeBound has demonstrated that a $1 investment can yield a $7 to $8 return in terms of scholarships and financial aid. Over four years this is a $21 to $32 return on a single dollar!
  collegebound

collegebound girlsCollegeBound is a privately funded college counseling service offered to students in both single-gender and co-ed public high schools. YWL Foundation hires and places highly qualified and specially trained college guidance counselors in public high schools on a full-time basis. The sole responsibility of the counselor is to guide students and parents through the college admissions and financial aid process, and to help create a culture of high expectations, where all students go to college, within the school.

The counselors have an office in each school and are fully integrated with the mission, faculty and programs at each school. The average caseload is never more than 100 students. In comparison, guidance counselors in other NYC public schools have a ratio of 451:1.

Since 2001, CollegeBound has worked with more than 1,500 seniors and 4,000 underclassmen in NYC public schools; over 75% of these students live at or below the level of poverty.

In 2007, 95% of graduates were accepted to college. This is double the national rate of 46% for high school graduates from the same income level.

The goals of CollegeBound are:

To create awareness, change school culture and develop the expectation that every student in the school can and will go to college.
To guide students through the entire college application process.
To prepare students for enrollment into a college of their choice.

With CollegeBound, students will no longer be lost in the system or fall through the cracks because there was no one trained to guide them through the complicated college admissions process.
