2005-2006 Results and Statistics

95% of 2006 graduates in a CollegeBound school are going to college (494 students)! CollegeBound worked with 676 seniors in the Class of 2006 and over 1,500 underclassmen with early awareness activities.
Since the program's inception in 2001, 92% of CollegeBound students have enrolled in post-secondary education; nearly 70% of these students remain in college. Nationwide, 51% of all students who begin college at a public institution will graduate within 6 years; 61% at private schools. For low-income and minority students the figures are even lower; African Americans are graduating from college at 41% and Hispanics at 49%.

In 2005, CollegeBound seniors received a total of $5.75 million in financial aid. The average student's package: was $11,642 annually – far above the national average of $8,474 for low-income students.   Those students who are enrolling at private liberal arts colleges are getting more substantial financial aid packages, often averaging $40,000 per year.

Since 2001, we have demonstrated that a $1 investment yields an annual return of   $7 to $ 8 in terms of scholarships and financial aid; multiplied by a student's 4 years in college, the return is $28 - $32.

The average CollegeBound school consists of 95 % minority students, more than 75% of students are low-income and 73% of CollegeBound graduates in 2006 were the 1st in their families to go to college.
