We are proud to report that we have had another phenomenal year! The following results highlight the incredible achievements our students have made this year:

100% of the June 2008 graduates from TYWLS, East Harlem were accepted to college, repeating the success for all 8 graduating classes. 100% of the senior class graduated.

At TYWLS, Rhodes (Philadelphia), 89% of the graduating class was accepted to college; this is their 2nd class of graduating seniors. 100% of seniors graduated.

|
100% of TYWLS students going to college received financial aid packages and scholarships to make college affordable. The average financial aid for East Harlem graduates was $23,240; in Philadelphia it was $12,909.
|
|
100% of students passed the NY State English Regents, many with honors.
|
|
36 TYWLS, East Harlem graduates received Regents diplomas and 7 received Advanced Regents diplomas.

|
A record number of students enrolled in AP English, AP US History, AP Calculus, and AP Spanish at TYWLS, East Harlem. More than 50% of the senior class enrolled in AP Courses!

Attendance is more than 94% at all TYWLS NYC schools.

Every NYC TYWLS school outperformed their City, Borough, and District peers on the middle school standardized tests in reading and math (Spring 2008).

95 % of 2008 graduates in a CollegeBound school were accepted to college. The New York City Department of Education reports that less than 50% of high school graduates citywide go on to college.

In 2008, the CollegeBound seniors received a total of $5.91 million in “free” financial aid (no loans); an average student package of $13,295 annually. The national average package for low-income students is was $6,300 and $8,300 for students in NY State. (NCES: National Postsecondary Aid Study 2004).

Of the nearly 500 graduates from the Class of 2008 who will go to college, 73% will go to four-year colleges; 38% will enroll in private colleges and 62% will enroll in public colleges and universities.

Of the nearly 500 graduates from the Class of 2006 who will go to college, 25% will enroll in private colleges in New York state, 14% in out of state private colleges, 28% in the State University of New York schools (SUNY) and 46% in the City University of New York (CUNY) schools.

A CollegeBound counselor's average student caseload is never more than 100 seniors. According to the US Department of Education, the ratio of students to counselors in all public schools nationally is 451:1.

CollegeBound has demonstrated that a $1 investment can yield a $7 to $8 return in terms of scholarships and financial aid. Over four years this is a $28 to $32 dollar return on a single dollar!

In the 2007-2008 school year CollegeBound worked with more than 500 seniors in 8 coed and single-sex high schools and more than 5,000 students in grades 6-11 at twelve schools (including 5 Young Women’s Leadership Schools and 7 co-ed public schools in NYC and New Haven) |
