On September 13, 2004 the YWL Foundation opened its second all-girls school in New York City. The Young Women’s Leadership School, Bronx Campus (TYWLS) is in Region 2 and is part of the New Century High Schools initiative. TYWLS, Bronx Campus opened with a class of 75 girls in the seventh grade and will ultimately serve 450 students in grades 7-12. They currently have grades 7-9.

TYWLS, Bronx Campus is committed to nurturing the intellectual curiosity and creativity of young women, and to address their developmental needs. The school community cultivates dynamic, participatory learning, enabling students to experience great success at many levels, especially in the fields of math, science, and technology. These future scholars are exposed to a rigorous, college preparatory curriculum that encourages girls to achieve their personal best. TYWLS, Bronx Campus works collaboratively with families to instill in students a sense of community and ethical principles of behavior. The educational goals of this school are to provide a comprehensive curriculum aligned with New York State and City standards. A combination of innovative teaching and high expectations helps students achieve academic success. TYWLS, Bronx Campus students are expected to attend college and become the leaders of tomorrow

As the school’s lead partner, the YWL Foundation builds partnerships and supports programs that enhance the educational experience of students at TYWLS, Bronx Campus. The YWL Foundation Field Representative, Polly Lagana, is a Foundation staff member housed at the school to facilitate these partnerships and programs. The principal of TYWLS, Bronx Campus is Arnette Crocker. She was a member of the first graduating class of New York City's Aspiring Principals Leadership Program and spent a year shadowing the principal of TYWLS, East Harlem, Kathleen Ponze.

The school will grow by a grade every year and serve girls in grades 7-12.
77% of students attending the school receive free or reduced lunch.
TYWLS, Bronx Campus successfully completed their 2nd year
Attendance: over 93%
100% of 7th graders passed the English as Language Arts exam (ELA)
At TYWLS, Bronx Campus the entire 7th grade participated in a new fitness, nutrition and wellness program called Energy Up; Green Girls a program of NY City Parks Foundation, with The Girl Scouts, The Alvin Ailey Dance Troupe, The Leadership Program, PowerPlay, National Junior Honor Society and Girls Learn International.
