In the 2006-2007 school year, 51 single-gender public schools are in operation and roughly 190 other co-ed public schools offer single-gender classrooms for certain subjects.

TYWLS serves a diverse population of 1,652 economically disadvantaged girls ages 12-18 across New York City and Philadelphia.  In the 2007-2008 school year our student demographics are:

51% African American students
35% Latina students
9% Asian students
5%  Other
89% of TYWLS students are eligible for free/reduced lunch
